When conducting audits, scoring thresholds help to accurately assess performance. A well-defined scoring system not only enhances the integrity of your audits but also ensures that the results reflect the true compliance status. This guide will walk you through the process of setting up score thresholds for audits, amending scoring issues, and ensuring that free text responses do not distort the overall scores.

  1. From the left menu, click Admin.

  2. Under Audits, click Manage Audits.

  3. Select All from the Select Folder drop-down menu.

  4. Find the audit you wish to add the scores to and click the Edit icon to the right.

  5. Under the Additional Audit Settings area, select Rate Audits based on Score.

  6. For each rating select the values required.

    • Select a Rating Rule (e.g. Greater than or equal To).

    • Enter a score Value.

  7. Click the Save Settings button to confirm.

The scoring in Care Compliance is conducted automatically rather than through drop-down selections. Each question is assigned a score based on the given answers. For instance, if a question has a binary response (Yes/No), you can score each answer according to the desired outcome. However, free-text questions do not utilise this weighted scoring system, as their responses are not easily quantifiable.

When setting up the scoring thresholds for the audit, you'll be prompted to specify the required scores for the classifications of Excellent, Good, Requires Improvement, or Inadequate. We recommend tallying the questions that allow for scored answers and creating a scoring matrix based on the number of responses that are quantifiable.

For example, if an audit consists of ten questions, with eight of them yielding scoreable answers, you could assign a score of 1 for a positive response and 0 for a negative one. This would result in a scoring matrix and thresholds as follows;

  • Excellent: Score greater than or equal to 7

  • Good: Score greater than or equal to 5

  • Requires Improvement: Score of 4 or less

  • Inadequate: Score less than 3
